Bubbles circular baby's shawl

by Carol
(Mudgegonga Australia)

:( I have the first row of the pattern making the holes then the following 3 rows that are just knit. The next pattern row I can't line up with the holes in the first pattern row.

I don't understand how it works. are you able to help...yes I'll go back and check the first row again.

The first pattern row ends in K4 after holes.

The second pattern row only has 4 stitches to use up before it hits the holes in the first row and won't line up.

Usually can see but this time I can't see the mistake I'm making.

Help please. Thank you Carol.

Hi Carol. I have knitted the Patons Bubbles Circular Shawl many times and your instructions do not ring a bell so I can only assume that the pattern you are using is a different one.

Without seeing the pattern it is very difficult for me to work out what is going wrong. So what I am going to suggest is that you try a pattern that I know works (cause I have knitted it half a dozen times in the past).

The pattern is now free on the Australian Country Spinners website: Bubbles Circular Baby Shawl.

Good luck...

Lace border

The 17th row of the border says to turn but that means that I would end up at the beginning of the row instead of the end of the row to continue on. Is then"turn" instruction an error?

The holes will not be directly above the holes in the previous lace row, but they should line up with the third and fourth yarn overs above the third and fourth yarn overs in the previous lace row.

This means that (yrn (or yon), k1) 6 times will start above and just after the 2nd holes below and finish before the last two holes.

As long as the centre stitch between the third and fourth yons is lined up, you are good to go.

Error in pattern

Yes I agree with previous comment. I am using this pattern and one starting on pattern row 5 the holes do not match up.
