Trouble with directions

Hi. I am working on a baby sweater called Lullaby Layette found in a Lion Brand Yarn booklet called Small Comforts. I am confused by directions and was hoping for help.

I am working on the Yoke of the sweater and have finished the pattern on the lower parts and then they are all joined on round needle with 167 sts ...

The pattern reads:

*K to 2 sts before next marker,k2tog tbl, slip marker,k2tog;rep from * across all markers,k to end-159 sts.

Next row : purl. rep last 2 rows 12 times, AT THE SAME TIME,when yoke measures 2 1/2 inches, shape neck as follows.

Shape neck
next row:work first 4 sts in St st(k on RS,p on WS) and place these sts on a holder, work to last 4 sts, sl last 4 to a holder.

Continue in St st,AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st each end of next 2 RS rows.

Next Row(WS): *Work to 2 sts. before next marker, p2tog,slip marker,p2tog; rep from* across all markers, work to end leave rem 43 sts on a spare needle.

Then the neckband is formed using sts. on holder. 61sts

I am currently at the part where the yoke measures 2 1/2 inches and have repeated the rows 6 times, not 12 yet. This is where I am unsure as to what I do. (It seems to early to start forming neck when I should have to repeat the 2 rows 6 more times)

can you help me? "AT THE SAME TIME" THROWS ME

YOUR ANSWER

These are the two rows in question, you need to repeat them another 6 times.

Next row: *K to 2 sts before next marker,k2tog tbl, slip marker,k2tog;rep from * across all markers,k to end-159 sts.

Next row : purl.

This is what you need to be doing at the same time:

Next row:work first 4 sts in St st(k on RS,p on WS) and place these sts on a holder, work to last 4 sts, sl last 4 to a holder. Continue in St st,AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st each end of next 2 RS rows.

So how about we combine them for you.

Next row: work first 4 sts in St st(k on RS,p on WS) and place these sts on a holder, *K to 2 sts before next marker,k2tog tbl, slip marker,k2tog;rep from * across all markers, work to last 4 sts, sl last 4 to a holder.

Next row: Purl

Next row: k 2 together, *K to 2 sts before next marker,k2tog tbl, slip marker,k2tog;rep from * across all markers, knit to last 2 stitches, knit 2 together.

Rep. last 2 rows once.

Next Row(WS): *Work to 2 sts. before next marker, p2tog,slip marker,p2tog; rep from* across all markers, work to end leave rem 43 sts on a spare needle.

Then the neckband is formed using sts. on holder. 61sts

Hope this helps...
