working sts into a sts

by Cat
(Leeds. uk)

I am knitting a cardigan and have only the sleeves left to do. But are puzzled by the beginning. I will have on 11 sts and purled 6 of them. It then says '' work 2 sts in each of the next 4 sts'' I am struggling to find any help from Google.

Thanks.x

Hi Cat.

These are increase stitches, so for the next four stitches you need to purl into the back of the stitch and then form another purl stitch into the front of the stitch.

Basically what you are doing is creating an additional 4 stitches.

If you are not sure how to do it, check out my page on increasing stitches.
