Is the a list online where I check the for yarn replacements?

Many of our local stores do not stock overseas wool.

Same here.

I don't think there is a list online anywhere and it would be pretty difficult to build one unless you knew all who all the yarn manufacturers were world wide.

What I normally do when I have a pattern that specifies a yarn that I either am not familiar with or cannot source, is to do a search online for that particular yarn. If I can find a listing , I look for the tension information.

Then I compare that to my yarn comparison chart to work out what ply or weight the wool is.

Then I can go into my wool store and select an appropriate replacement.
